An Extension to Study AZA PH GL 2003 CL 001 Allowing for Continuation of Azacitidine Treatment in Patients With Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) At the conclusion of study AZA PH GL 2003 CL 001 (NCT00071799), eligible participants could be enrolled in an optional extension phase in order to continue treatment with azacitidine until it became commercially available; the continued treatment was for ethical and safety reasons only and not to provide additional efficacy data.

Study of ACT-293987 (NS-304) in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) This is a multi-centre, multinational, open-label, single-dose acute hemodynamic study followed by randomized, double-blind, parallel-group, placebo controlled study. Eligible subjects will undergo an open-label, single-dose acute hemodynamic study with ACT-293987(NS-304) and 21 weeks of double-blind treatment during which subjects will receive either ACT-293987 (NS-304) or placebo b.i.d. Subjects who have completed the double-blind study can enter the open extension study (separate protocol) and receive administration of ACT-293987 (NS-304) if the subject wishes and the Investigator considers it appropriate.

Efficacy and Safety of Oral Roflumilast Taken With Low Dose Inhaled Corticosteroids in Patients With Asthma (12 to 70 y) (BY217/M2-013) Bronchial asthma is among the world's most prevalent diseases. Roflumilast is a novel, orally active, selective enzyme inhibitor (phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor), which has shown effectiveness in the treatment of asthma. The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of roflumilast taken orally together with low dose inhaled corticosteroids on lung function. Roflumilast will be administered at one dose level once daily together with inhaled corticosteroids at one dose level twice daily. The study duration consists of a baseline period (2 to 6 weeks) and a treatment period (24 weeks). The study will provide further data on safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of roflumilast.

A Survival Study in Patients With High Risk Myelodysplastic Syndromes Comparing Azacitidine Versus Conventional Care The purpose of this study is to determine whether patients with high-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) treated with azacitidine have improved survival compared to conventional care treatments. The study will also assess the effect of treatments on response, duration of response, and transformation to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The study will continue for 12 months following last patient enrolled. See study AZA PH GL 2003 CL 001 E for information about the extension to this study.

A Study of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) for the Seasonal Prophylaxis of Influenza in Immunocompromised Participants This 2 arm study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of oseltamivir in the seasonal prophylaxis of influenza in immunocompromised participants (as represented by transplant recipients). Transplant recipients enrolled when influenza is circulating in the community will be randomized to receive oseltamivir syrup or capsules 30 milligrams (mg) to 75 mg daily (depending on body weight) or placebo for 12 weeks. Influenza symptoms and safety data will be recorded throughout the study.

The Efficacy, Safety and Tolerability of E2007 in Levodopa Treated Parkinson's Disease Patients With Motor Fluctuations Patients will be randomised to receive either placebo or the study drug for a period of 30 weeks, in addition to their standard Parkinsonian medications. During the first 8 weeks, the patient's levodopa doses may be adjusted if necessary by the investigator. For the remainder of the 22 weeks, all medications should be kept stable. Patients will be required to attend the clinic twice during the screening period and then a further 8 times during the treatment period. They will be required to complete home diaries where they will record their motor function. In addition, their doctor will assess their Parkinson's disease during the clinic visits. There will also be blood draws for safety and pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenomics evaluation. Following the treatment and assessment period, they will return to the clinic one month later for follow up.

Repinotan in Patients With Acute Ischemic Stroke The purpose of this trial is to evaluate Repinotan HCl in patients with acute ischemic stroke. At study entry patients will be randomized to Repinotan HCl or placebo in a 1:1 ratio. The total treatment period wil be 72 hours.
