Lanreotide as Primary Treatment for Acromegalic Patients With Pituitary Gland Macroadenoma Acromegaly is a chronic disease caused by excessive secretion of growth hormone (GH) and mainly due to benign tumour localized in the pituitary gland. The disease develops insidiously, causing a gradual progression of symptoms; consequently most patients are diagnosed in their fourth decade of life. Administration of somatostatin analogues such as lanreotide have been shown to result in normalisation or the decrease of GH and insulin growth factor (IGF-1) levels and improvement of clinical symptoms in acromegalic patients. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether lanreotide is also effective on tumour volume reduction (tumour shrinkage) and the benefits of this potential tumour shrinkage on disease symptoms and patient's quality of life.

Satavaptan in the Prevention of Ascites Recurrence in Patients With Ascites Due to Cirrhosis of the Liver Primary To evaluate the efficacy of satavaptan on top of diuretic drugs in reducing the recurrence of ascites. Secondary To evaluate the tolerability and safety of satavaptan on top of diuretic drugs over a 52-week treatment period in participants with cirrhosis of the liver and recurrent ascites. A Study of Lenalidomide Versus Placebo in Subjects With Transfusion Dependent Anemia in Lower Risk Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) Without Del 5q The purpose of this study is to investigate whether lenalidomide would reduce the number of red blood cell transfusions (RBC) needed in anemic (RBC transfusion-dependent) participants with low or intermediate-1 risk MDS without a deletion 5q chromosome abnormality. The study also investigated the safety of lenalidomide use in these participants. Two-thirds of the participants received oral lenalidomide and one-third of the participants received oral placebo.
